About Emily Jepps

My creative career properly began in 2005 after graduating from the Kent Institute of Art & Design with a degree in illustration. I was lucky enough to find an agent, and enjoyed freelance commissions for things like greetings cards, book covers and the like. It's a hard way to earn a living though, and so I also worked part-time for paint and wallpaper company Farrow & Ball, working in their Tunbridge Wells showroom and going on to be a home colour consultant. What started as a job just to pay the bills ended up lasting 11 years! And although I no longer work there, my time advising on colour schemes for peoples homes taught me so much, and informs the way I use colour in my designs today.

During this time I was getting the itch to start making my own products. I took a short course in screen-printing and set about creating a range of lampshades, made entirely by me from start to finish. I had no intention at all of making jewellery (it isn't an obvious choice for an illustrator!) but in 2021 I decided to make some Christmas decorations using decoupage, with an aged, crackle-glazed surface. These proved so popular that it got me thinking about other products to make in this way, and so my jewellery collection was born.

My main inspiration is nature, as well as objects from the past that are either beautifully designed or just full of nostalgia. I love the bold designs and clean bright colours of the mid-century era, but I'm also a fan of dark and moody and I like to create things that have a bit of the gothic fairy-tale about them.

I really love what I do and feel incredibly lucky to be able to share this with people. Should you have any queries at all please do get in touch and I'd be delighted to get back to you.
